Lease your land for a solar farm

If you own agricultural land in our active development areas, we can assess whether it’s suitable for solar development — at no cost or commitment on your part. Where the site qualifies, we put in place a thirty-year lease with a guaranteed annual income. We handle everything: technical surveys, permitting, and all administrative paperwork.

How a solar land lease works

The agreement we offer landowners is a long-term lease, typically running thirty years from the date the plant enters operation.

The annual rent per hectare is agreed at the preliminary stage, before any technical activity begins, and is index-linked to preserve its real value over time. The preliminary contract is conditional on obtaining the necessary permits: if the project does not receive approval, the landowner is released from any obligation.

No legal or technical costs are required from the landowner. The entire cost of the process — topographic surveys, land registry checks, and permitting — is borne by Terrawatt.

Where we are actively
looking for new sites

Terrawatt is actively seeking land in the regions where we have already developed in-depth knowledge of the territory and local regulations: Basilicata (provinces of Matera and Potenza), Lazio (province of Viterbo and surrounding areas), Abruzzo, Marche, and Umbria.

We favour agricultural land with low morphological complexity, a minimum surface area of five hectares, and good solar exposure — but every site is assessed individually.

If your land falls outside these areas but you believe it has interesting characteristics, get in touch anyway. We review every submission.

From first contact to signing:
what to expect

After initial contact, our team carries out a preliminary assessment of the land using mapping data and land registry records. This takes around two weeks and requires nothing from you.

If the outcome is positive, we arrange a site visit and a meeting to walk you through the project, the proposed rent, and the terms of the preliminary agreement. Only once you have reviewed all conditions and had time to consider them — with your own legal advisor if you wish — do we proceed to signing.

From that point, Terrawatt takes full responsibility for the process. You will not be involved in permitting procedures or required to participate in any technical activity.
